Great stuff, and impressive to see this sort of editorially challenging
content coming from a big telco. Christian from Mozilla is absolutely right
when he explains the need for html5 powered apps. Being a developer I can
safely say that at this point in time, most of our community believe we
need an ‘open web’ environment and not lock down users – or ourselves – to
a single OS. Look fwd to the next videos guys.
Solid content here. I think new OS can disrupt the current market and give
the big players a run for their money, provided there are enough html5
powered apps at a user’s disposal. And I just have to say I was instantly
riveted by the eloquent, stunning female presenter – a rare combo of tech
know-how and sheer beauty. Look forward to the next video.
Very informative report! Russell Buckley says that “open always wins” – I
think there is a lot of precedent for this view in the long term, but the
shape of things generally gets set in the short/medium term by the folks
who deliver the best experiences – regardless of whether they are “open” or
“closed”; and these are the innovators who create new movements. To be Open
or Closed is not the real question – to deliver a fantastic experience is
the right path to take ….
Brilliant video – having clued in presenters makes a massive difference too
so that was a major plus. Highly relevant topic for those of us from the
developers community. Personally, I think Firefox and Sailfish OS do have
the potential to disrupt the market. What do others think?
Excellent, informative video! I’m impressed with the quality of the video
production and interviews, but more than anything, it is great to see a
telecom operator taking the lead on fostering these type of discussions.
The mobile OS landscape is certainly changing, and I’m hoping some of these
open alternatives (and HTML5 apps!) will make a dent.
