CIS is a general IT degree, you study programming, hardware, software, and systems development. You also get business classes, like accounting, marketing, and finance, with the idea that if you are working with/designing systems for business you need an understanding of how businesses work.
They do all kinds of jobs like systems design, database work, PC work, communications, and hardware.
From a work stand point , you mostly sit behind a desk a set security for individual users. You will have to leave your desk to help office users when they hit a snag. It really depends on where you are employeed and how many users they have. It’s easy work that usually requires the ability to be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
This people coordinate implementation of new software initiatives
The changes of platforms (hardware)
Coordination of development plans
Adapts the original written software in to specific company needs (logo, use, menus, adaptations)
Constantly in workshops learning what is new in the market to implement on an specific market/company.
