Question by 60 & Rising to the Occasion: Why do highschool social studies teachers teach that, “the Jews control the media?”?
My wife and I are practicing Jews and our daughter came home from school crying because her social studies teacher said that the biggest problem today is that, “the Jews control the media.”
She was told that the Holocaust has been greatly exaggerated because the Jews own all of the News companies and that they only want to use their power to have the US government to fight their battles in the middle east. Well, we are 3rd generation Jews in this country and we don’t fight any wars in the middle east. This is absurd but it seems to be a growing problem in American high schools.
Actually, we are afraid to have trouble with the school.

I assume you’ve talked to the Principal by now….
I suspect the problem is even worse in the Universities!

Doesn’t America have laws against teachers doing that?
I’m sure the principal will prefer to take care of the teacher quietly, rather than getting sued.
Or maybe you can go to the “Jewish controlled media,” but I don’t know how you’d do that without him saying you proved his point.
I think you need to contact an attorney, and also the school board. The principal should be third in line in this case. The teacher is an obvious Nazi sympathizer and bigot, and should not be teaching children.
And if you’re “afraid to have trouble with the school,” that’s even more reason to have an attorney present. I would also consider moving your child to another district or home-schooling. I would also contact the local media. A story like that needs to be publicly aired. Maybe if you shamed the school board enough you wouldn’t have any trouble with them.
Because its true, along with most of the big money on this planet.
The Jews dont need us to fight their battles evidenced by the 1967 war with Syria. They can do quite well on their own.
I agree with you about them strerotyping you, its wrong and it needs to stop.
The first sentance was also taught to me in high school.
I would contact the Anti-Defamation League. They have a program that helps parents deal with such issues in schools. Unfortunately, this is a growing problem.
Just when so many Jews have become complacent thinking antisemitism displayed openly was a thing of past generations, a new wave of it has appeared the likes of which I never believed I would see in my lifetime! I know my parents did not believe it would happen.

Our Confronting Anti-Semitism Program empowers the Jewish community to respond to anti-Semitic incidents and to challenge the persistent anti-Semitic stereotypes that are often at the root of these incidents.
The fear of being singled out as “different” and the risk of being viewed as an “outsider” are often cited as reasons why so many Jewish youth and adults remain silent in the face of anti-Semitism. A strong, positive Jewish identity is closely related to a willingness to respond to anti-Semitism.
Customized to meet the needs of various audiences, our interactive Confronting Anti-Semitism workshops help Jewish youth, family members, teachers, and community members to:
explore and strengthen their Jewish identity
confront insensitive or hateful comments
challenge anti-Semitic myths with facts
respond effectively to hate-motivated incidents.
Contact your ADL Regional Office for more information or to schedule a workshop.
Colleges and universities across the United States presently experience highly charged anti-Israel and anti-Zionist activity that sometimes goes beyond legitimate criticism of Israel and turns into hateful attacks against Jews and the Jewish state, such as:
anti-Israel political protests
anti-Semitic speakers
Holocaust denial ads in campus newspapers
anti-Israel divestment campaigns
harassment of Jewish faculty and students
hate incidents and hate crimes.
Our Confronting Anti-Semitism Program on Campus helps all members of the college campus community, including Jewish students, faculty, Jewish communal professionals and involved community members, to:
combat anti-Semitic and anti-Israel attacks on campus
respond effectively to hate-motivated incidents and hate crimes
create more respectful and inclusive college environments.

Current and Future Leaders Study Mission to Israel
ADL’s Current and Future Leaders Study Mission to Israel invites a select group of diverse campus leaders to travel to Israel for a week. If possible, the students are joined by two Members of Congress or senior members of their staff, one Democrat and one Republican.
The annual Mission gives participants the opportunity to gain a deep and personal understanding of anti-Semitism, the Holocaust, modern Jewish history and the struggle for peace in the Middle East by engaging with decision makers, journalists, students and ordinary citizens.
Campus Editors Study Mission to Poland and Israel
The annual ADL Campus Editors Study Mission to Poland and Israel takes a diverse group of student journalists from across the country on a two-week trip to get a firsthand perspective on the news-making events in Arab-Israeli relations.
First the college journalists travel to Poland to explore pre-WW II Jewish life in Europe and learn about the Holocaust, touring the concentration camps Auschwitz and Majdanek and the areas once occupied by the Warsaw and Krakow ghettoes. Continuing on their journey, the students travel Israel extensively, visiting historic and religious sites and meeting with decision-makers on the frontlines of the conflict, representing both Israeli and Arab perspectives.
Contact your ADL Regional Office for more information on participating in our Campus Missions.

Now my comment..perhaps you may wish to contact the ADL first then your school board, explain this incident and then try to get that program presented at your school. Simply having a teacher fired won’t do much but make the teacher a martyr that will tell everyone that the Jews who control everything victimized the teacher, too.
Your child was traumatized because of the hate and lies taught, but when you think closely, all the children who were taught this were victims of hate and bias and will be the next generation to spread that poison if the antidote isn’t served soon.
All the children that were taught this need to be taught the truth, and taught how to recognize bigotry and bias, not just about Jews, but about any group!
Good luck.
Unfortunately, antisemitism is rampant in this country!
And all because the believe that the Jews killed Jesus Christ! You’d think by now, that people would be intelligent enough to figure out that the Jews did not put Christ to death!
The Romans did!
If believers want to hate someone so profoundly?, why not hate the Italians!
It would at least be accurate!!
Until historians can unite in theories about this subject?,, the the Jews will be blamed for everything, especially controlling the banks, and the media!
How dumb can you get!
That social studies teacher is flat out a Commie and a racist.
And pictures say a thousand words. My Uncle, who fought in Germany took pictures of the gruesome atrocity that was happening. I can send you a few to correct your stupid teacher. And where did your teacher get his/her diploma? Cracker Jack? (Most frauds get theirs that way…)
And check out the German Archives…
Why? Because they assume the parents are afraid to trouble the school. This is your test. Do not stand idly by the poisoning of the children’s minds. Stand up for the truth and complain to the principal/administration. This teacher’s behavior is unacceptable.
Teach your daughter by example to stand up against injustice. This, if nothing else, is what Judaism stands for.
You either let the teacher teach what he wants to teach, right or wrong or you stand up and challenge it.
Remember the Talmud? All it takes for evil to survive is for the good people to do nothing. Sounds to me like you are one of those “good people” who are doing nothing.
I’ve never heard of such a thing. Really, I’ve never heard anyone speak that way in real life at all – just on Yahoo! Answers. This makes me skeptical about the question, but if you’re not trolling for anti-Semites to agree with the alleged remarks, then there’s very good advice above. I think that teacher would just have found a way to get fired despite tenure.
You must tell the principal about this. You seem to assume that the school is in general agreement with this teacher. Most likely the administration has no idea she is teaching this crap. Tell your congregation about it and they will be on your side. There will be many many people who will support you in this if you just tell people about it. Please stand up for yourself, your daughter and the rest of us Jews by not letting this go by without your protesting it. If she’d made racist statements about blacks, there’s not a black person alive today probably who’d have any hesitancy about reporting it. This is flat out wrong and you don’t have to stand for it.
