Question by ferr: Anybody know about androids and “mobile market”?

I dont know anything about androids so with a little persuasion i agreed and he went away with it for 10 minutes.. i got home i googled this “mobile market” and well apparently its free! I actually left the country this morning so i cant go back to the shop.. anyhow my boyfriend has suggested that perhaps he rooted it? which is apparently not good.. so yeah could anybody explain this to me? thanks a bunch!

Did you pay 80 bucks for having your phone rooted or for the phone? In the latter case, it was probably stolen – the HTC One X sells for around 500 € over here; in the former case, you were swindled – you can root the phone for free if you want to, and in any case you don’t need to root the phone to access the Android Market.
And yes, a lot of apps on the market are free – and a lot of others are for payment. And this doesn’t change with rooting the phone.

1st thing, you could have rooted your android in front of your own pc.
2nd, if the guy installed the mobile market then you deserve your money back.
Rooting an android is just making it available to have a better software made by people outside the Google and Android company. Those softwares will make your phone faster and will manage your memory card better.
